Smart Suggestions helps you log the foods you eat regularly without searching for them each time. Carbon looks for patterns in your own diary history and shows likely entries right inside the meal where you usually track them.
What are Smart Suggestions?
Smart Suggestions are a logging shortcut that surfaces foods you have logged before, placed in the meal and on the days you tend to eat them. It is not a recommendation engine and does not tell you what to eat. It simply makes your own repeat habits one tap to log. Because the suggestions come from your history rather than a generic list, they get more useful the longer you track.
How Smart Suggestions works
Smart Suggestions learn from foods you have already logged in Carbon and looks for repeat patterns, such as foods you eat every day, on weekdays or weekends, or on a particular day of the week.
Suggestions stay with the usual meal. A food you regularly log at breakfast is suggested at breakfast, not in an unrelated meal.
Empty days do not count against a habit. Carbon only evaluates days when you actively logged food.
Carbon needs some history first. You need at least seven active logging days before suggestions can begin.
Stronger habits appear first. When several foods qualify, the most consistent ones are listed first.
Suggestions are calculated on your device from your own logging history. They are not generated by an external AI service, and they keep working offline.
How to use a suggestion
Open the Diary tab and go to today or a future date.
Find the grey SUGGESTED entries inside a meal. If the section is collapsed, tap the SUGGESTED row to expand it.
Review the food and its suggested serving amount.
Tap the checkmark to add one suggestion, or tap Add all to add every suggestion shown for that meal.
Once accepted, a suggestion becomes a normal diary entry. It updates your calories and macros and can be edited or deleted like any food you add manually. Nothing is logged automatically: suggested entries stay previews and do not affect your diary totals, health integrations, or check-in data until you accept them.
How to dismiss a suggestion
Tap the × beside a suggestion you do not want. Dismissing or repeatedly ignoring a suggestion helps Carbon adapt when a habit changes. Removing a food after you have logged it also stops Carbon from suggesting that same food again on that date.
Pre-logging a future day
Smart Suggestions can appear on future dates. Accepting a suggestion there adds it to that future diary, which makes it a quick way to pre-log foods you already expect to eat. A future entry behaves like any other diary entry once accepted, so you can change or delete it later.
How to turn Smart Suggestions on or off
Go to Settings.
Tap App preferences.
Turn Smart suggestions on or off.
Turning the setting off hides Smart Suggestions. It does not remove foods you already accepted and added to your diary.
Frequently asked questions
Why am I not seeing suggestions?
Smart Suggestions will not appear when the setting is turned off in App preferences, you have fewer than seven active logging days, or Carbon has not found a strong repeat pattern for that meal and day. If you already logged or removed the suggested food on that date, it will not be suggested again there. When a meal or day looks complete, suggestions may simply be collapsed under the SUGGESTED row and are still available if you expand it.
Are Smart Suggestions nutrition recommendations?
No. Smart Suggestions are a logging shortcut based on your habits. It does not recommend what you should eat or judge whether a food fits your goals. Always review the food, serving amount, calories, and macros before adding, especially when your usual portion has changed.
Is my diary data sent to an external service?
No. Suggestions are calculated on your device from your own logging history, are not generated by an outside AI service, and continue to work offline.
Do suggestions change my totals before I accept them?
No. A suggested entry is a preview only. It does not affect your diary totals, health integrations, or check-in data until you tap the checkmark or Add all.
