Advanced Mode: Set Different Calories and Macros for Each Day of the Week

Same training week every week? Give each weekday its own calories and macros once, and every week starts from it.

The new Calorie Planner is rolling out now. If you don’t see it yet, update Carbon from the App Store or Google Play.

Advanced mode lets you give each day of the week its own calories and macro ratios in Carbon, so a pattern like a higher Saturday or a lower-carb Monday repeats every week automatically. You set it once in Diet preferences, and every check-in period starts from it.

Most people won't need it. Your diet type and macro ratios already set every day, and every weekday starts at 100% of your usual day. Advanced mode is for a routine you repeat, like a training split. For one-off changes, use the Calorie Planner instead.

How to turn on Advanced mode

  1. Go to Settings › Diet preferences. From the Daily planner, tap … and then Diet preferences.

  2. Tap … in the top right and turn on Advanced mode.

A strip of weekdays appears above your macro targets, each at 100% and on your usual ratios. The week is ordered the way your region orders it. The switch stays on until you turn it off.

How to set different calories and macros for a weekday

  1. Tap the weekday in the strip. The heading changes to that weekday, for example Saturday macros.

  2. Drag Calories. It's a percentage of your usual day: 120% means 20% more, 80% means 20% less.

  3. Adjust Protein, Carbs or Fat if you want that weekday's mix to differ from your diet type.

  4. Check the card under the heading. It shows what that weekday would look like on your current targets.

  5. Tap Lock day to keep the weekday exactly as you set it.

  6. Tap Save changes.

Raising one weekday lowers the other unlocked weekdays a little, because the week's total stays the same. Lock the weekdays you want to stay at 100% before you adjust the others. When the other days reach your calorie floor, the slider stops and the line under the heading says so.

Tap a selected weekday again to go back to your overall targets. Default, beside Adjust ratios, puts a weekday back to 100% and your usual ratios.

Examples of weekly patterns

  • Bigger weekends. Saturday and Sunday at 115%, locked. The weekdays settle a little lower.

  • A higher-carb leg day. Thursday with Carbs dragged up and fat down, calories left at 100%.

  • A lighter Monday. Monday at 85%, locked, so the rest of the week gets a little more.

Frequently asked questions about Advanced mode

What happens at my check-in? Every check-in and coach adjustment starts your new period from these settings, applied to your new calorie target. A date you already adjusted in the Daily planner keeps its adjustment if it falls inside the new period. There's no weekly reset and nothing to redo.

Does Advanced mode change my weekly calories? No. It changes how your calories are spread across the week. The week's total stays the same.

How do I start over? Tap … and then Reset weekdays to 100%. Turning Advanced mode off does the same and hides the strip, and the app asks first if any weekday would change.

Where do I change my diet type? With no weekday selected, the screen shows your Diet type and ratio sliders. See Diet preferences.

Set your week once, and let Carbon carry it forward at every check-in.
