Welcome to the next level of your nutrition journey with Carbon's Advanced Check-ins! We've upgraded our check-in process to provide you with more personalized guidance—even when things don't go exactly as planned. This article will walk you through the new features and how to make the most of them.

What's New with Advanced Check-ins?

  • Automatic Compliance Detection: The Coach now automatically determines your compliance based on your tracked macros and calories.

  • Adjustments for Non-Compliance: Even if you weren't compliant, the Coach can make intelligent adjustments to keep you on track.

  • Support for External Tracking Apps: Easily input your macros if you're using another tracking app.

  • Enhanced Check-in Report: Get deeper insights into your progress with more detailed reports.

Step-by-Step Guide to Advanced Check-ins

1. Starting Your Check-in

Begin your weekly check-in as usual by navigating to the Coach tab of the Carbon app.

2. Tracking Confirmation

You'll now be prompted with a new question:

"Did you track everything you ate this week?"

  • Yes: If you've tracked all your food in Carbon, select this to allow the Coach to assess your compliance automatically.

  • No: If you haven't tracked everything, you'll have options to proceed.

3. Automatic Compliance Detection

If you confirmed full tracking:

  • The Coach reviews your logged macros and calories.

  • Compliance is determined by comparing your data to the Carbon-provided targets.

  • You'll be prompted to enter or confirm your metrics, confirm all details, and complete your check-in.

  • Adjustments are made automatically to support your goals.

Example:

  • Goal: Lose 1 lb/week

  • Target Calories: 2000/day

  • Actual Intake: 2500/day

  • Outcome: If you still lost weight as desired, the Coach might adjust your target calories upward to align with what's working for you.

4. Using External Tracking Apps

If you tracked your macros using another app:

  • You'll be prompted to enter your Weekly Averages or Weekly Totals for the check-in period.

  • This allows the Coach to make accurate adjustments based on your actual intake.

Note: There's no direct integration with other apps at this time, so data must be entered manually.

5. Viewing the Enhanced Check-in Report

After completing your check-in:

  • Access your Check-in Report to see detailed insights.

  • Understand how your macros, compliance, and adjustments align with your goals.

  • View trends and progress in your Check-in History.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to change any settings to use Advanced Check-ins?

A: As long as your macro targets are set to "From Coach" and not "Custom Macros", you'll experience the new Advanced Check-ins features.

Q: What if I forget to track some meals?

A: Select "No" when asked if you tracked everything. You'll then have options to proceed, such as entering your macros manually if you tracked elsewhere.

Q: Can I still use my preferred macro tracking app?

A: Yes! You can input your macros manually during the check-in. Currently, there's no integration, so manual entry is required.

Q: Is there a way to mark noncompliant to keep my calories the same for another week?

A: Yes. On the "Did you track everything you ate this week?" screen, choose No (even if you did). Then choose to mark No, you were not compliant (even if you were). This will keep your calories the same for another week and not make any adjustments.
